Design Reveal : The Scarlett Living Room

Hey Guys!

Welcome back to my blog! I'm so excited to show you guys my most recent design, which is actually part of a much larger project I'm working on for my portfolio. This project I have named the 'The Scarlett Living Room' and it will be seen in the 'The Scarlett Home' once I'm finished. The Scarlett Home will showcase a two-bedroom and two-bath apartment with an outdoor patio. I'm designing this space based off an existing apartment unit with exact dimensions, so that this project could be as authentic and challenging as it would be if it were with a client. Here is the mood for the entire project:

The mood of this project is very casual, comfortable, warm, bright, and southern. The mood is depicted through decorative accents such as warm-toned wood, upholstered seating, textured textiles, plants, and southwestern patterns. Most of the photos that I pulled for inspiration came from my Pinterest board that I labeled 'Austin TX Home'. That is a title that I use to describe this style... It's the southern comfort of Austin Texas blended with the Mid-Century Modernism of Los Angeles. I use Pinterest as a way to find different styles, fine-tune them, and showcase to clients. The photos that I put into a style board always have similar aspects and characteristics, creating a style! Having these style boards for clients to browse through really help the client and I find a starting point and discuss their personal style. From there, we will decide what it is exactly that catches their eye and even decide if they want to blend multiple styles. Pinterest is a great way to have an open conversation about design!
