Interview : Mariana Carrillo
I'm introducing a new segment, "INTERVIEWS", where I tour the spaces of design-savvy individuals and learn a bit about their style.
In this week's interview, meet Mariana Carrillo! I toured her modern, concrete apartment in Downtown Los Angeles. Her studio reflects her profession of dancing and ballet and is the perfect space for fostering creativity!
Q: What is your source of inspiration for your home?
A: My source of inspiration mostly comes from the artist loft style vibe in LA. I love following interior design accounts such as @huntingforgeorge @westelm and other inspiration photos from Pinterest. I like the industrial vibe with a touch of bohemian style.
Q: How would you describe your "personal style"?
A: Simple and minimalist boho fusion. I like to have a lot of green, adding plants as the color but keeping neutral grays, whites, and browns. I love having candles for low romantic lights.
Q: Where do you shop for home decor?
A: IKEA, Target, Amazon. Anywhere there's good prices! I got a cool throw blanket at HD Buttercup and I'm obsessed with that store.
Q: Is there a particular design element that you can't live without?
A: Definitely candles! I'm obsessed with Anthropologie and the candles that they have. I think I also couldn't live without plans.
Q: Do you have a favorite item in your home? If so, why?
A: I love my record player and my ballet barre but I can play cool records while I dance.
